Pete Roberson another gem of an album with a well thought out concept. Senda's vocals as always enhance the mood and the quality of this release. very enjoyable listen Favorite track: The Madman in the Forest.

Alrihkh Spiral have excelled in creating what I feel to be an 'underground cult classic of heavy psychedelic & prog rock' here. Both musically & lyrically, this is a well-crafted & well-expressed fantastical concept album. The style of vocals & heavy rock instrumentation carry the tale along very nicely. The sung narrative is done in convincing fashion. An immersive escape. Reminds me a bit of Uriah Heep. Two thumbs up! Give it a few listens & let it grow on you. Thanks, Spiral! 7.5+/10. Favorite track: The Madman in the Forest.

With every step I’m guiding you finding you in hidden glades sending you up against my enemies trying you on the blade of time grab everything you deserve grab what you own pull it from the stone pull it from the stone the choice is mine! With every step I’m killing you Bending you in unseen ways Sending you amongst the graves Grinding you on the wheel of trust

The Idiot 03:50
He dreams of more than this nothing is what it seems He wants more He wants yours and when the moon is up the day finally burnt through He’ll lay awake scheming plotting his way to you I’m the one falling down too clumsy to stand up I’m the one falling behind Invisible and unstable Waiting to get mine He hides out in plain sight The idiot in the crowd spitting and drooling raving and ranting but when the cards are down and the jig is finally up he’ll be far away laughing and counting his money I’m the one on top too good to fall I’m the one in front indivisible and unbreakable I finally got mine
3.
He walks through caves and hidden glades forges swords with unknown ways His hands are deft and rarely slip his eyes are sharp and never miss And late at night when we all sleep His eyes are open to things unseen He captures evil and swallows it and keeps his people safe from harm His robes are long to keep him in he staff is strong to keep us out but with all the power he holds nothing can prepare him for what’s to come

Niniane 07:21
Your vast kingdom stretches over the land just as you told me in our youth and I’ve followed your every word as I promised in springs first glow I gave him his brilliant weapon and raised the bravest man he’d know Yet here you stand imploring me to give you my love and my heart Do you know, Myrddin, The secrets of my heart? and can you see the path we are on now Don’t you see, Myrddin I am not what you want don’t ask me for what you know I will never give So now that I’ve finished my part and seen your boy rise to the throne It is your turn to make due and tell me all I wish to know Help me open my mind’s third eye and see the universal truth Share your closely guarded secrets let me have this power you wield Did you know, Myrddin, that I can see it too Useless desire unrequited love Don’t you see, Myrddin the only way you’ll win is to stop the fight and let yourself lose.

Two ancient dragons fought to bury castles in the sand one rose in the west one drowned in the mud He saw everything he knew what was to come he knew what had passed and nothing would ever change So he watched his tale unfold and tried to win his losing hand But losers always lose while helping others win Helpless seer of the king the madman in the forest can never was his hands of the things he must do Useless old dreamer tired old wizard what the hell will you do now that your time has come? And even though he always knew she would be beautiful She would be kind to him He vowed to look away But he never knew how much he would love her and how little all his plans would matter after So of course she did betray as he always knew she would but everything is fine when she’s by his side

about

One of the unfortunate side effects of this pandemic is that almost every band has had to reevaluate how to create albums, how to tour, and how to live without the income live shows create. It seems every band has a covid record (or two or three) and Spiral is no exception. This is Spiral’s covid record!

Every part of this record was recorded in isolation. Bill and I didn’t see each other for over a year while we quarantined, but we were still in contact with each other on a regular basis. Bill would record something and send it to me, I’d record something and send it to him. We’d sit alone and add layer after layer to each song until we both loved them. This slowed down the process significantly, but I think that was a good thing! To me, this sounds like our most cohesive album thus far and we have isolation to thank for that!

I chose the theme for this album (can you tell what it is?) because this story is filled with isolation. Isolation in forests and caves and isolation while surrounded by people!

Of course, covid did have a financial impact on the band and in order to try and stay alive we have raised the price for this record by one dollar. I try to keep these things as cheap as I can and we’ve found that we can survive with a price of three dollars a record, but this year has been terrible (of course) on our savings, so we have to raise prices to make ends meet. Sorry about that!

As always, you are more than welcome to pay more if you can. We always appreciate it!

Anyway, here is our psychedelic offering for a psychedelic time. As always, we hope you love it as much as we loved making it. Play it loud!
